Overview
This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) mandated Inmate Rights & Privileges #3502 online training course offered for Texas Jailers.

This online course is designed to provide Texas jail personnel with an understanding of inmate rights, privileges, and the constitutional responsibilities of corrections officers within a jail setting. Through a case law–based approach, participants will examine the legal foundations of inmate rights, including historical developments and current trends involving the U.S. Supreme Court and the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Topics include inmate access to medical care, religious freedoms, grievance procedures, due process considerations, disciplinary actions, and the distinction between inmate rights and privileges.


Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive sixteen (16) hours of course credit.

TCOLE Reporting
