This is an OSS Academy® School Resource & Security Officer  online training course offered for Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

The roles of a School Resource Officer [SRO] and a School Safety Officer [SSO] are dynamic. SROs and SSOs wear multiple hats, and work in a predominantly community-based environment, our schools. Working day-to-day with school administrators, teachers, students and parents can be difficult, and requires a proper foundation that begins with understanding these unique roles in a school setting. This important course is designed to further develop such a foundation for an effective SRO-SSO program. It introduces and discusses some of the federal precedents that apply, and the latitude of an officer whose duties on campus necessarily combine safety with juvenile behavior within the law. If you do not regularly patrol a campus, this course provides you with important information about campus enforcement operations, should you be directed to respond to a school emergency. 

Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.
