This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Foot Pursuits online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

Foot pursuits are one of the most dangerous actions an officer can take. Your decision to pursue on foot should be made with an awareness of the risk to which you and others may be exposed. Your safety should be of paramount consideration. As with other enforcement actions, the decisions to start and continue a foot pursuit should always be balanced between the need to apprehend the suspect, and the risk posed to you and members of the community. In this course, we discuss factors to consider in your pursuit decision making, hazards you may encounter along the way, and tactical considerations.

Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.

TCOLE Reporting
