This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) mandated Texas State & Federal Law Update #3186 course offered in an online training format Texas Peace Officers. This 2019-2021 Texas State & Federal Law Update #3186 course is designed to provide Texas Peace Officers with both State and Federal legislative updates and court decisions that impact the law enforcement profession. After reviewing the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) decisions, we will study the latest Texas code changes and additions that affect law enforcement policy makers, administrators, or law enforcement officers. There were a large number of Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Transportation Code revisions as well as some new laws. Although fewer in number, there are revisions in the Occupations Code and other codes as well. There are also revisions in the Government Code that may affect your use of a personal cell phone while on the job.
Please note, the entire course (including any applicable course parts), final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive four (4) hours of course credit. TCOLE Reporting
