This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Arrest Procedures online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators. According to the Department of Justice approximately thirty percent of officers killed annually in the line of duty are killed while making an arrest. Furthermore, a large number of the lawsuits that are filed against officers each year are for actions taken while making an arrest. Do you know what is required to make a lawful arrest? How long can you detain someone while attempting to ascertain if there is a warrant for them? When can you lawfully enter someone's house to serve an arrest warrant, even though they have denied you permission to enter? If you are uncertain of the answer to these questions, if you don't know the latest tactics to be safe during an arrest, or if you are just concerned about your own personal liability in effecting arrests, this course is for you. Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit. TCOLE Reporting
