This is an  OSS Academy® Freedom of Speech Enforcement online training course offered for Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.

Those who won our independence believed that the greatest menace to freedom is an inert people; that public discussion is a political duty, and that this should be a fundamental principle of the American government. Freedom of thought, inquiry, speech, and lawful assembly are fundamental rights of all U.S. residents. These rights include the freedom to express opinions; to hear, express and debate various views, no matter how unpopular; and to voice criticism. Free speech is uniquely important in the right of dissent, as it brings about a free interchange of ideas integral to the constitutional fundamentals that allow individuals to disagree and lawfully protest.

Please note, the entire course final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive one (1) hour of course credit.
