This is the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective Interviews & Interrogations of Juveniles #2094 online training course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators. This course introduces best practices when conducting juvenile interrogation and interviews. The focus is on what constitutes adequate juvenile warnings, valid wavers, and what you must do to make sure the juvenile's confession you may obtain will be allowed by the court. You will learn how the U.S. Supreme Court has recognized the emotional and developmental differences between adults and juveniles. These differences must be considered when you conduct an interview or interrogation of a juvenile. You must observe the legal rights of juveniles and protect against charges of police coercion or intimidation during interviews and interrogations of juveniles. You will encounter test questions derived from legal and non-legal document resources throughout this course so be sure to read the resources provided. Please note, the entire course, final exam(s), and course evaluation(s) must be completed in order to receive two (2) hours of course credit. TCOLE Reporting
